Seymour Duncan has announced the release of its new Diamondhead multistage distortion and boost pedal.

Featuring two rows of controls - a three-band EQ with bass, mid and treble up top and boost, level and gain knobs on the bottom - the Diamondhead is designed to emulate the sounds of late Seventies and Eighties metal and hard rock.

The pedal features a SAT Switch, which adds a 24dB pre-gain boost that tightens up the low end. In addition, independent from the drive section, the boost - which users can activate with the left footswitch - offers 0 to 15 dB of available gain and can be used as a lead boost or to push an amp into overdrive.

The Diamondhead can also be run into the effects return of a tube amp, or in front of a power amp to be used as a pre-amp unit.

The Seymour Duncan Diamondhead pedal is available now for $229.
