Gibson Custom has teamed up with blues rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa to create the Joe Bonamassa Bonabyrd, currently available in a limited edition of 100 guitars worldwide.
Originally built as a one-of-a-kind original model for Bonamassa, the Bonabyrd has become a regular fixture on stage with him since 2014. Designed in close collaboration to capture every detail of the Bonabyrd’s look and sound, each guitar has also been played and hand-signed by Bonamassa himself.
The Bonabyrd combines the classic body shape of a Fifties Les Paul with a Sixties retro Firebird headstock, and all topped off with a stage-stealing Antique Pelham Blue nitrocellulose finish. Not only does the Bonabyrd capture the essence of Bonamassa’s unique personality, but it effortlessly delivers a sound worthy of a player known for his incredible ear for tone.
The Bonabyrd features PAF-style Custom Bucker pickups and stays true to the classic weight and feel of a classic Les Paul. The neck consists of one-piece mahogany with a Bonamassa profile, and the fingerboard features one-piece bound rosewood with trapezoid inlays. The body pairs a maple top with an ultra-light one-piece genuine mahogany back.
The Joe Bonamassa Bonabyrd has a list price of $7,899.
