Carvin Guitars shared this cool time-lapse video of a Jason Becker Tribute JB24 Numbers guitar being made.
The JB24 is a modern take on the Numbers guitar that Jason designed but which was never fully produced. Carvin Guitar’s Custom Shop has created a new and improved version of the guitar in response to the widespread acclaim for the guitar and Carvin Guitar’s long relationship with Becker.
Like the original, the JB24 Tribute has a one-piece swamp ash body with a bolt-on 24-fret Eastern hard rock maple neck. However, the Custom Shop version features a 25 1/2–inch scale; the original had a 24 3/4–inch scale, but the longer scale provides more tension to make the guitar better suited to drop and alternate tunings.
Unique to this instrument are the namesake multicolor Numbers inlays. These are actual inlays, not just decals.
The JB24 comes equipped with multicolored Seymour Duncan pickups—a humbucker in the bridge and neck position with a center single-coil, for an H-S-H configuration. Electronics are passive, with a five-way pickup selector switch and an orange master volume control.
Watch the guitar take shape as its crafted out of raw wood, assembled and tested. Visit Carvin Guitars for more information.
