Demeter Amps has announced the release of the Tremulator Plus tremolo pedal.
From the company:
Thirty four years ago Ry Cooder asked James Demeter if he could make him a tremolo pedal that sounded like his favorite Amp’s tremolo. James loved a challenge, so he analyzed the tube circuit and came up with a more versatile solid state version that would work at 9 volts and fit in a pedal box.
At that time there were no good tremolo pedals being made. The result of Ry’s request was the Tremulator. He loved it and gave them to his friends like Pop Staples and Dwayne Eddie.
Soon word got out and even though James did not plan to be in the pedal business (he was more interested in tube amplifiers and Pre amps) he was dropped into it and went on to design many more great pedals. The Tremulator was one of the first boutique pedals of the 80’s. Used by Thousands of guitarists on thousands of recording and concerts.
The original classic was recognized as one of the “fifty coolest pedals of, all time” by Guitar Player magazine. It is still one of Ry’s favorite Pedals. It was named by Steve Carnelli a famous studio player of the Eighties who said ”It ‘s not a tremolo, its a Tremulator”. The name stuck and so every pedal we make has a “ulator” in its name because of him.
After more than a third of a century in production, James Demeter decided to revisit his first pedal and add every feature that he could think of as well utilizing customer suggestions he received along the way and still keep the original all analog Optical design. The range of controls are amazing. Just imagine the tremolo tones you can get with this unit.
The unit features the bias control on top instead of a trim pot. You easily adjust the on and off ratio of the optical unit, with the knob straight up you get the famous Cooder setting.
The Clock Waveform can adjusted to be a pure triangle wave (smooth up and down volume effect) or to the normal position, a flattened Triangle wave, (Smooth up, and down volume with strong on and off), or set to the very sharp cut off of a square wave (sharp on and off).
Hand built in the USA in our Barn in Templeton CA.
