Band Of Friends celebrate ‘Rory Gallagher 50th Anniversary’ release with tribute gig.
Last week saw the release of the Rory Gallagher 50th Anniversary Box Set commemorating the Irish bluesman’s 1971 eponymous debut album. A must-have for any Rory Gallagher fan, this limited edition five-disc package includes a brand-new mix of the original album; 30 unreleased/alternative tracks; a 6-song BBC Radio John Peel Sunday concert from 1971; and 4 other BBC Radio session tracks.
In celebration of this epic release the Rory Gallagher tribute band Band Of Friends – fronted by the original bass guitarist on Gallagher’s debut album, Gerry McAvoy – will be performing a selection of songs from Rory Gallager in an unmissable, one-time-only livestream show.
Kicking off at 6PM BST today this 30-minute tribute performance can be viewed on Rory Gallagher’s official Facebook page and YouTube channel.
While Rory Gallagher was recently voted Ireland’s Greatest Music Artist in a pole hosted by Dublin radio station Newstalk, fans will also be treated to another 50-year celebration as the Museum of Reading commemorates the golden anniversary of the Reading Festival with their exhibition The 1971 Reading Festival: For the First Time.
The exhibition tells the story of the first Reading Festival while showcasing items from Gallagher’s archive, including his 1966 Fender Telecaster electric guitar and Vox AC30 amplifier.
