There are countless Zeppelin tributes, but only one boasts the drummer who played with the real deal, including at their last live gig.
Jason Bonham — the son of Zeppelin drummer John Bonham — sat on the drum throne at London’s 02 Arena with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones for Celebration Day on December 10, 2007. Today, he keeps the Zeppelin flame burning on the road with Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening — or JBLZE — featuring “Mr. Jimmy” Sakurai on guitar.
Sakurai’s ascent from Japan's best Page tribute guitarist to the international stage is legendary. As the leader of Mr. Jimmy’s Led Zeppelin Revival, he was so convincing that the real Page traveled to Japan to watch him perform in 2012. Page was impressed and gave Sakurai his blessing to keep playing his music and copying his persona.
Sakurai’s remarkable electric guitar journey is the subject of the documentary Mr. Jimmy, which generated buzz for the guitarist when it played at the SXSW Film Festival in 2019.
In addition to Sakurai, Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening includes James Dylan on vocals, Dorian Heartsong on bass and Alex Howland on keyboards. Join them for a set “featuring the biggest radio hits Zeppelin ever wrote, plus fan-favorite deep cuts.”
