A woman has been charged following an incident last month in which former Lindsey Buckingham guitarist for Fleetwood Mac had an unknown substance thrown on him.
The incident occurred March 25 in Santa Monica while Buckingham was attending an appointment. Though he was reportedly unharmed, it soon emerged that the alleged attacker was known to the guitarist and had a history of stalking him.
Authorities have now confirmed that a woman named Michelle Dick was arrested in Santa Monica on the day of the incident. The arrest came despite the fact that Buckingham had previously obtained a restraining order against her.
According to court files obtained by Rolling Stone, Dick has been charged with seven criminal counts in Los Angeles County.
The complaint includes one felony count of making criminal threats, a felony count of assault with a deadly weapon involving a motor vehicle on March 19, and a charge that she vandalized Buckingham’s Mercedes-Benz the same day.
Dick also faces a separate felony count of making criminal threats against the guitarist on March 25, as well as a misdemeanor battery charge related to the Santa Monica incident in which the substance was thrown.
Prosecutors allege Dick had been stalking Buckingham from late 2021 until her arrest last month.

Buckingham — who rose to fame with Fleetwood Mac in the 1970s, where he distinguished himself as a singer, songwriter and talented fingerstyle electric and acoustic guitarist — sought a restraining order against Dick in November 2024 following years of alleged harassment.
According to court documents, she had called 911 on November 3, 2024, falsely reporting that Buckingham’s son was “suicidal” and claiming that gunshots had been heard inside the family’s home.
In a written statement filed with the court and obtained by Rolling Stone, Buckingham described the aftermath of the call.
“When I answered the door, I was handcuffed and asked to step outside,” he wrote. “After 20 minutes of the police searching my house and me outside in the cold, handcuffed, I was let back into my house, shaken and fearful.”
Detective Marisol Landeros wrote in the filing that Dick’s “behavior needed to stop” when the restraining order was granted.
Buckingham told the court he feared the situation could escalate.
“I am afraid her conduct may escalate into something physically dangerous,” he wrote, referring to both himself and his family.
He also alleged that Dick sent him “long, drawn-out messages that included the claim she was my child and threats to kill me and my family.”
Buckingham further claimed that Dick blamed him for “facial deformities she suffered as a child and demanded money.” He also cited alleged threats made to a venue in San Francisco where he was scheduled to perform, as well as threatening messages directed at his wife on Instagram that left the couple “terrified.”
The incident comes as Buckingham has recently hinted at a possible reconciliation of sorts with former bandmate Stevie Nicks and mended his relationship with Mick Fleetwood last year. His forthcoming solo album will mark his first new music since 2021.
