Watch Samantha Fish & Jesse Dayton’s Surly "Brand New Cadillac" Music Video
The duo launch new collaborative project with a mean cover of this late ‘50s rockabilly classic
Blues guitar sensation Samantha Fish and badass country outlaw Jesse Dayton have released a new EP titled The Stardust Sessions.
With a shared musical vision of marrying blues- and alt-rock, the pair began writing together in their New Orleans studio to create a unique sound all their own.
On the last day, Fish and Dayton let rip on some songs with the tape rolling. The result is The Stardust Sessions – an EP of three classic covers that showcases the duo’s edgy vocals and world-class guitar chops.
Unveiled today with a surly performance video, Fish and Dayton's "Brand New Cadillac" is a unique take on the late ‘50s rockabilly classic written by Vince Taylor (of Vince Taylor and His Playboys fame). A cover of the track also appears on the Clash’s 1979 London Calling album.
Also featured on The Stardust Sessions is a cover of Townes Van Zandt's late ‘60s acoustic number "I'll Be Here in The Morning" and "Feelin' Good" by Chicago blues luminary Magic Sam.
If you like what you heard, look out for Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton’s forthcoming album.
Comprising ten new and original tracks, their new LP – Death Wish Blues – was produced by the legendary Jon Spencer and is slated for release in late spring via Rounder Records.
