Guns N’ Roses performed their first show with the reunited trio of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan at the Troubadour in Los Angeles last Friday night. Although no cameras or phone were allowed to be used at the venue, some audience members managed to shoot a few videos. You can watch a two-minute clip of the group playing “Welcome to the Jungle” below, along with a sampling of others.
The show included plenty of classic material as well as songs from Chinese Democracy, the band’s 2008 album that featured guitar work by Robin Finck, Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, Buckethead and Richard Fortus. The Troubadour show included the cuts “Chinese Democracy” and “Better,” making this the first time Slash has been heard performing any of the music the band made after his 1996 departure.
The classic trio of Rose, Slash and McKagan was rounded out by Fortus, keyboardist Dizzy Reed and drummer Frank Ferrer, all from the most recent incarnation of Guns N’ Roses. Its not known if drummer Steven Adler was invited to perform, but he would have been unable to due recent back surgery.
Guns N’ Roses took the stage past midnight, about an hour later than scheduled, which isn’t too late given Axl Rose’s tendency to make audiences wait. The Troubadour crowd was small and exclusive. Reportedly just 250 were in attendance, including a host of “special guests”—among them Lenny Kravitz, Jim Carrey, Andrew Dice Clay and Nicolas Cage—who sat and watched from the balcony.
The evening’s set list can be found below the videos.
