Joe Satriani is reissuing his classic 1987 album, Surfing with the Alien, for Record Store Day - with a twist.

The limited-edition, two-LP reissue of the album will feature one disc containing the remastered original album and another disc featuring the album, but stripped of all its legendary guitar leads.

The "stripped" disc aims to allow guitarists to both appreciate the album's backing tracks, and play along with the tracks themselves.

"More than 30 years after Surfing With The Alien went platinum, earned two Grammy Award nominations and camped out on the Billboard 200 for over a year, the remastered original album is paired on vinyl with a unique presentation of the album without its signature guitar leads - a chance for seasoned fans and aspiring shredders to appreciate what makes this album a must hear for guitar players the world over," a statement on the Record Store Day official website reads.

This limited-edition version of Surfing With The Alien will be limited to just 3,500 copies, and will be available at select retailers for Record Store Day’s Black Friday on November 29.
