Joe Bonamassa has always been public about his close relationship with his 1951 Fender Nocaster, saying in August that it's the 'best' guitar he owns.
Given the size of his famously large collection of guitars - almost all of which he uses frequently onstage - this certainly is no small compliment. To that end, Bonamassa has decided to have a signature replica model of the guitar produced.
In an Instagram post, the bluesman revealed that he recently dropped the guitar off at the Fender Custom Shop in Corona, California, so master builder Greg Fessler can make a replica signature model of the instrument.
100 examples of the Bonamassa '51 Nocaster are scheduled to be produced. They'll initially only be made available on Bonamassa's website.
"It is as much a tool as it is a weapon," Bonamassa said of the guitar back in August. "It is the most dynamic instrument I have ever played in my life."
"It howls in all the right ways, and quite frankly, kills my ’59 Les Pauls on occasion," he later said in an interview with MusicRadar. "It is a lifelong guitar that I will play and cherish.”
We'll be sure to have more information on the guitar as it is made available.
