Along with a great look, sound and feel, the new Martin 000JR-10E Shawn Mendes Custom Artist Edition is a shining example of how to construct an environmentally friendly flat-top.
Built entirely from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified tonewoods this 000 Junior-sized acoustic even has a gig bag made from Global Recycled Standard ocean plastic.
“Creating this guitar alongside Martin has been a dream of mine,” commented Mendes.
“The signature [model] we created together is not only something I’m proud of musically, but also because it aligns with my passion for sustainability, and supports the Shawn Foundation’s initiatives.
“I can’t wait to share a guitar I love with fans across the world.”
Subtle personal touches include the artist’s signature inlaid at the third fret while a laser-etched swallow on each wing of the bridge reflects Mendes’s hand tattoo.
Additionally, each guitar features a unique label showcasing the Shawn Mendes Foundation (opens in new tab) sunburst logo.
Furthermore, laser-etched samples of Mendes’s song lyrics are hidden inside the guitar – but where, exactly, is a mystery.
Phrases such as “We lay under the same stars” and “You’ll never be alone” can be spotted in various places such as under the bridge or on a brace.
