I just spotted the pedal deal of the year with the Electro-Harmonix Lizard Queen octave fuzz slashed to just $39.60 for Prime Day

The arrival of the Prime Day guitar deals usually means one thing: cheap guitar pedals. Typically, these are the lesser-known Far Eastern brands you find on Amazon, but this year they’ve been usurped by an amazing deal on a household name for guitarists. But it's not at Amazon... this little doozy has been served up by Guitar Center.

The Electro-Harmonix Lizard Queen is an octave fuzz pedal originally designed by Josh Scott of JHS Pedals, and it’s available for a frankly ridiculous price of just $39.60. Originally priced at $99, that’s a huge $59.40 discount, giving you a top-quality pedal for well over 60% off.

Originally designed as an homage by Josh Scott to the EHX pedals of the 70s, this nano-sized version of the big box pedal not only takes up relatively little space on your pedalboard but will also put a much smaller dent in your wallet.

There’s no gain knob here, so you’ll need to control this fuzz with the volume knob on your guitar but despite that, you can still get a huge amount of sounds out of it. To my ear it’s set at a really nice level to cover the vast majority of players in the rock, blues, and indie sphere, and you get a nice volume boost past the midway stage of the volume knob.

If you’re looking for a cheap pedal deal for Prime Day then this Electro-Harmonix Lizard Queen for less than half price is one of the best. Combining a vintage fuzz tone with a high-octave sound, you can craft everything from Jack White-type lead guitar tones to nasty, ring-modulated sounds that will melt the face of anyone in the nearby vicinity.

The balance knob is where the action happens, with each of the spectrum marked ‘shadow’ and ‘sun’. It goes from a smooth fuzz that responds really well to the volume knob of your guitar, through to a much nastier, spitting type of sound that you can get some cool gated sounds out of.

A dedicated octave knob allows you to dial in as little or as much of the higher octave effect as you like. At a more extreme setting, it really brightens up the tonality of the pedal, and combined with the balance control, you get a lot of potential for different tones.

You can get everything from a classic octave fuzz tone that pairs nicely with blues licks, to nasty, spitting fuzz sounds with ring modulation when you want to get a bit nastier. It’s surprisingly versatile, and at this price, absolutely worth a punt if you want to try something different on your pedalboard.
