The BD-2 is one of the most ubiquitous overdrive pedals on the planet, and with good reason: its rich tones warm up any amp, and it makes a great booster, too. Boss pedals hold their value like no others, so this 21% drop is awful tempting.

One of our favorite cheap looper pedals has had $50 slashed off the price. Which makes this $99 deal an absolute bargain. A blend knob goes between two different amp characters, allowing you to fine-tune your gain, while a three-way scoop switch gets those mids dialed in juuuust right. Get it! Now!

Tech 21 is clearing out its SansAmp Character Plus range: four compact pedals that act as Guitar DIs, preamp and multi-effects in one. Your options include the Fender-ish Screaming Blonde, Gilmour-targeted English Muffy, Hendrixian Fuzzy Brit and Beatles-friendly Mop Top Liverpool. Looking for Klon-esque midrange drive from a standard-sized pedal? MXR has got you. The Fat Sugar is more faithful than many other Klones: it blends your clean signal at the start of your sweep, and offers increased headroom via an onboard voltage doubler. As far as simple loopers go, it's hard to look past the RC-1. At just $99, the Pigtronix Constellator is a brilliant deal at Sweetwater thanks to a huge $80 reduction. It's an analog delay pedal that delivers a luscious warm wash that belies its budget price point. It's a seriously underrated bit of gear, and we love the modulated tones it can deliver, as well as the mini size that means it's easily able to fit onto any 'board.

Remember when the internet went bananas for the DigiTech Bad Monkey? Wampler did, and then made the Triumph – a drive pedal that JHS head honcho Josh Scott called “better than the Bad Monkey”. If all of that means absolutely nothing to you, let me just say that the Triumph is a superb Tube Screamer-derived drive with extra flexibility, via a three-band EQ and a Smooth/Punch switch for classic and modern tones. For Cyber Monday, it’s under $85. Now that’s bananas.

I've had a HX Stomp on my pedalboard for the past couple of years now, and it's become the hub for all my delay, reverb, and modulation sounds. Sometimes all I want is a pedal that does its job in the simplest way possible, and the Tidewater Mini does just that. You know the one – that sweet, musical tremolo that makes everything sound just a little better without taking up much space in the mix. I use this amp plugin when I want a clean tube combo vibe that can break into sweet overdrive and lush spring reverb plus vibrato. The realism of having the ‘65 Reverb sound in-box means I can skip the real hardware but still get that silverface feel.

If you need Plexi-style aggression, rock-era bark or full-on hot-rodded roar, then this is your guy. Three distinct 100-watt plexi circuits, plus boost options and mic’d cabinet emulation, give you the perfect classic sound you need right in your DAW.

The Audient iD4 MkII is a fantastic bit of kit, and I actually still use it as my travel interface when I need to mix on the go. I love the dual headphone outputs which allows for quick and easy collaboration, and I picked it out as a great option for beginner mixers who want something easy to use, but with enough room to grow into as they develop their craft. If you want something a little more ‘pro’, the Universal Audio Apollo Twin X is the step up you’ve been looking for. I use its bigger brother, the X4, as my daily in my home studio, and when I was reviewing the Twin X I really loved the analogue style workflow it encourages you to take on. By harnessing the DSP power within the interface itself, you can offload processing from your computer to the interface itself, allowing you to place plugins on the input path like you would in a proper studio. It’s got a huge $200 discount at Sweetwater right now, so if you’re ready to step up to the big leagues, then this is the interface for you.

For those who primarily record guitars, the IK Multimedia Axe I/O is the ultimate guitar audio interface. It’s got some properly cool guitarist-friendly features, like the ability to switch the input for active or passive pickups, an impedance control for changing the high-end content, a dedicated reamp out for changing those DI tones, and it even has a built-in guitar tuner. I picked out the SSL2+ MKII as a great interface for recording vocals, because SSL preamps are known for being ultra-clean. This is certainly the case with what’s an offer here, but there’s also some additional functionality that I think makes it particularly well-suited for singer-songwriters. The dual headphone outs are great for collaborating with others on tracks, and with dedicated volumes for each, you can set a perfect balance for you and the vocalist you’re working with. The built-in low cut for each track is also super handy, allowing you to get rid of any low-end rumble you might get from your singer moving around whilst they deliver their take. With a nice $50 reduction in the Guitar Center sale, it’s a great time to pick up this interface and upgrade the sound of your recordings for Black Friday.
