In my opinion, nothing beats a looper as a means to progress your playing. It's a way to train rhythm and lead simultaneously, whilst instilling a good sense of time as you set up your loop.

With this in mind, the Boss RC-5 Loop Station is a perfect practice companion, even more so considering the $45 knocked off the price in Amazon's current deal.

The Boss RC-5 Loop Station will cover most of your looping needs, complete with a screen and built-in drum loops. As a musical way to advance your playing, it's the perfect practice companion, all contained within Boss's sturdy compact pedal format.

Having done a fair bit of looping myself, I have found that there is nothing quite like it for targeted practice. A good looper like the RC-5 plays back exactly what you put in, allowing easy identification of all the little things you may want to improve in your playing, as well as training a good sense of time as you look to start and end your loop in the right place.

Looping can be a bit fiddly, but the RC-5 is easy to use with a screen that will help you navigate the process through some handy icons and colour coding. No manual diving needed here.

There's plenty of memory to store your loops and a massive 13 hours of looping time available, so it's a handy creative aide too. Add that to some built-in drum loops and the option to upload backing tracks to it, and you have yourself a powerful practice tool.
