AC/DC's new album is done!

And according to singer Brian Johnson, the band is considering calling the release — due later this year — Man Down, as a nod to guitarist Malcolm Young. Young's serious health problems necessitated his taking a sabbatical from the iconic hard-rock act as they were about to enter the studio with producer Brendan O'Brien earlier this year.

"Perhaps the title is a bit negative," said Johnson, who served up the news while getting an honorary doctorate from Northumbria University, Newcastle, England. "But it was probably just straight from the heart. I like that. I'm very excited [about the album], and we've got some great songs."

Joining the group for the album sessions in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, was guitarist Stevie Young—the nephew of Malcolm and lead guitarist Angus Young. Stevie had previously covered for Malcolm during a 1988 tour, when the rock-solid rhythm guitarist took a break to deal with his dependency on alcohol.

"Stevie was magnificent," reported Johnson. "But we miss Malcolm, obviously. When you're recording with this thing hanging over you, and your work mate isn't well, it's difficult. But I'm sure Malcolm was rooting for us. He's a fighter. He's in hospital, but he's a fighter. We've got our fingers crossed that he'll get strong again."
