Guitar Player Presents is hyped to help bring four acoustic virtuosos to the Bay Area’s most renowned jazz house as the Great Guitars continues its guitar supergroup tradition. Martin Taylor—who replaced Herb Ellis in the original Great Guitars in the ’80s and toured as part of the group alongside the legendary Barney Kessel and Charlie Byrd—is now carrying the concept forward into the 21st century.
The 2014 edition of the Great Guitars tour combines Martin Taylor’s award-winning virtuosic fingerstyle with Vignola’s jaw-dropping technique, Raniolo’s energetic playing, and D’Agostino’s classical-inspired artistry. This all-star evening will feature solo, duet, trio and quartet performances by four acoustic and jazz masters. Together they have worked with artists ranging from Tommy Emmanuel and David Grisman to Donald Fagen and Wynton Marsalis.
Guitar Player is primed to present an evening of virtuosity, emotion, humor and musical fireworks. Come revel in the Great Guitars with us!

About the Artists (from the Great Guitars section of Taylor’s web site)
Pat Metheny calls Martin Taylor “one of the most awesome solo guitar players in the history of the instrument, while Jeff Beck says, “he out-shreds all of us—I’ve never seen anything like it.” Taylor is widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost exponents of solo fingerstyle jazz guitar, and he serves as a global online guitar teacher through the Martin Taylor Guitar Academy in association with ArtistWorks.
Frank Vignola is regarded as one of the planet’s most accomplished, multidimensional players. Les Paul added him to his Five Most Admired Guitar List for the Wall Street Journal.
Even though his musical career is only at the beginning, Vinny Raniolo has already had many opportunities that take most players a lifetime to achieve, having toured 14 countries. His latest album, Beloved Earth Songs, is a duo project with Frank Vignola.
Peppino D’Agostino is a Renaissance man whose inspired, poetic style earned him the Best Acoustic Guitarist award in the Guitar Player Reader’s Poll. D’Agostino’s playing takes its inspiration from the music of Brazil, American, Ireland and his native Italy.
