This month marks the 35th anniversary of Nancy Wilson's Guitar Player cover on December 1979.
Asked in the 1979 interview if people hesitated to take her seriously as a rock instrumentalist because she's a woman, Wilson responded, "Other guitar players used to come up to me and say, 'You don’t play too bad for a girl.' Well, too bad—I’m a girl. I was serious about learning guitar in the fifth grade, and that’s a young age to be serious about anything. But I’m glad I started as young as I did, because there was no one telling me that a woman couldn’t do that."
Still recording and touring 35-years later, Heart was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2013.
If you miss tonight's live stream, you can take consolation in Heart's 'Crazy On You' performance on The Midnight Special that originally aired March 4, 1977.
