Tony MacAlpine Asks Fans for Help After Stolen Gear Goes Up for Sale

Guitarist Tony MacAlpine is appealing to fans in Mexico to help him retrieve four guitars and a pedalboard stolen from him that are now up for sale in the country.

The instruments were stolen in Austin, Texas, on June 11, 2015, and are now for sale in San José Iturbide, in Guanajuato. MacAlpine has reached out to the seller but has not received a response.

The guitars are:

- a black Ibanez Guitars custom seven-string with EMG Pickups installed (Serial No. LA071509)
- a white Ibanez seven-string with black EMG 707 pickups (Serial No. LA0168. Shown right.)
- a Peavey EVH sunburst
- a white Carvin seven-string

MacAlpine has posted photos of the guitars on his Facebook page. The white Ibanez appears to be the same guitar that he is shown with in the photo above.

MacAlpine is currently being treated for colon cancer. He had surgery in August and is undergoing months of drug therapies and analytical procedures. He wrote in December that he and his doctors are “encouraged by“ his progress. He noted that the treatments “are overwhelmingly draining because of their brutal side effects, but my eyes and heart are on the big picture, which is recovery.” In addition to MacAlpine’s health problems, his wife was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.
