Slash Joins Ace Frehley for the Former Kiss Guitarist's New Album

Slash confirmed via Twitter yesterday that he’ll perform on Ace Frehley’s next album.

Frehley announced earlier this year that he was interested in making an album of his favorite songs by groups like the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, the Who and the Beatles. He said the album might possibly even contain covers of “Cold Gin” and “Parasite,” two of his signature tracks from his days in Kiss.

Slash’s tweet added yet another group to that list: Thin Lizzy.

“Had a really fun, live session with Ace Frehley last night, jamming on a Thin Lizzy tune for his new covers album,” Slash wrote on his Twitter account yesterday, August 2.

Slash also posted a photo of himself with Frehley and others.

While it’s exciting to hear that Slash is onboard, there’s still no word on whether Frehley has approached his former Kiss bandmate Gene Simmons. Ace had previously said he was considering asking the bassist to participate.

“I think he’d consider it,” Frehley said. “I don’t know if he’d do it. Maybe [Kiss cofounder/guitarist] Paul Stanley won’t let him. Who knows?”

Frehley’s new album is due later in 2015 on SPV/Sledgehammer.
