Slash has confirmed that his schedule is clear for the summer of 2016—the same period in which a Guns N’ Roses reunion tour is rumored to take place.
The report—from Slash France—adds more fuel to speculation that the guitarist will reunite with singer Axl Rose and other members from the classic GN’R lineup.
According to the report, filed by Slash2Baz, Slash will film his horror movie The Hell Within in early 2016 and record a new album in the spring with his band, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. The group will not tour behind the album, as Kennedy will be at work with his other group, Alter Bridge, which features guitar Mark Tremonti. That leaves Slash’s summer schedule wide open.
Slash2Baz says he received the schedule update directly from Slash at the Conspirators’ show in Prague earlier in November. He adds that Slash gave him additional details, but noted, “I can’t say more right now.”
He added, “I don’t believe rumors man. I talk to people who are reliable sources, in this case it’s Slash himself. I won’t tell what he told me. I’m just saying no Conspirators tour next summer. That’s it. He can be busy with many things, like his new movie.”
Or, just maybe, Guns N’ Roses.
Of course, if that reunion does happen, it will probably not be a full regrouping of the classic lineup. According to Melodic Rock, sources close to the Guns N’ Roses camp say Steven Adler, Izzy Stradlin and Matt Sorum are not going to be involved.
Instead, the group will feature original members Rose, Slash and bassist Duff McKagan alongside current GN’R members Richard Fortus, Frank Ferrer and Dizzy Reed.
Melodic Rock also reports that the band will perform a string of high-profile European festivals next summer, and that Coachella might also be on the schedule. A 2017 stadium tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Appetite for Destruction is reportedly a possibility.
