Former Pink Floyd bassist Roger Waters took part in the MusicCorps “Music Heals” benefit for military vets this past Friday, October 16, with some help from Tom Morello and Billy Corgan.
The trio performed the Pink Floyd classic “Comfortably Numb,” shown below, with Corgan and Tim Donley, a Marine who lost both legs in Afghanistan, lending vocal assistance on the chorus. The backup band for the evening was the MusiCorps Wounded Warrior Band led by guitarist G.E. Smith.
Corgan and Morello also joined on a cover of the Bob Dylan classic “Forever Young,” shown below. Morello and Waters appeared together for the Floyd songs “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” and “Money” and Bruce Springsteen’s “The Ghost of Tom Joad” (which has also been covered by Morello’s band Rage Against the Machine). Corgan, for his part, additionally guested on the Floyd cuts “Wish You Were Here,” Brain Damage” and “Eclipse.”
