Cynthia Lennon, the first wife of John Lennon, has died from cancer at 75.
The official statement reads:
"Cynthia Lennon passed away today at her home in Mallorca, Spain following a short but brave battle with cancer. Her son Julian Lennon was at her bedside throughout. The family are thankful for your prayers. Please respect their privacy at this difficult time."
Cynthia was 18 when she met Lennon, then a burgeoning guitarist. They married in 1962 upon the conception of their son, Julian, and stayed together until 1968. Cynthia wrote two books about their life together, A Twist of Lennon (1980) and John (2005).
