San Francisco police have recovered a vintage 1966 Fender Telecaster that belonged to John Frusciante. Valued at $30,000, the guitar was stolen from the owner’s home in the Potrero Hill-Bayview neighborhood during a burglary on August 16.

Frusciante had given the instrument to a friend who planned to loan it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in late August. Police said the guitar changed hands three times between the date of the burglary and its return to Frusciante’s friend on August 27.

You can see the owner reunited with the guitar in the video below. His name and address are being withheld to help deter future attempts to steal the guitar.

Frusciante was a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 1988 to 1992 and again from 1998 to 2009. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
