Legendary blues and rock singer Joe Cocker lost his battle with cancer today and the world lost a beloved musician and friend.
In his own words, Cocker played with "just about everybody." His first single in 1964 was a cover of the Beatles' "I'll Cry Instead" recorded with Jimmy Page on guitar.
But it was his cover of another Beatles' song, "I'll Get By With a Little Help From My Friends," recorded in 1968 and performed at Woodstock in 1969, that he'll be remembered for.
Forty years later, two of the most iconic artists to emerge from Woodstock, Cocker and Carlos Santana, reconnected when the pair covered Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing."
In a fitting bit of serendipity for the day, the "Little Wing" cover was recorded on Santana's album, Guitar Heaven.

Thanks for the music, Joe.
