In the video below, Testament guitarist Alex Skolnick jams with Winery Dogs bassist Billy Sheehan at the Winery Dogs’ Dog Camp this past July. The group is performing Billy Cobham’s 1973 jazz-fusion track “Stratus.”
The camp was presented from July 27 through July 31 by the Winery Dogs, which also includes guitarist Richie Kotzen and drummer Mike Portnoy, and gave fans a chance to play with the group and other musicians as well as attend music workshops. Skolnick, who performs with his Alex Skolnick Trio in addition to Testament, was on hand for the camp’s jazz set on July 30.
Video from the Dog Camp, including a video highlight reel, has just recently been uploaded to YouTube.
In this video, Skolnick and Sheehan jam with Dylan Wilson, on stand-up bass, drummer Mike Bennett and guitarist Dave Wood. The performance was part of the jazz set.
“Stratus” was originally released on Spectrum, the debut album by jazz fusion drummer Billy Cobham. The track featured late guitarist Tommy Bolin and bass great Lee Sklar.
