An Ovation 12-string acoustic owned by Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson is one of the items that will go on the block at Julien's Icons & Idols: Rock n' Roll auction this November 7 and 8.
The guitar is part of the "Collection of Ann and Nancy Wilson," which will be featured in the auction. The collection includes a vast amount of custom costumes, stage clothing, personal items, and professional awards from the sisters' careers in Heart.
The Ovation 12 string, serial number 16182, has a red finish and was played by Nancy Wilson on tour circa 1985.
Many of the costumes and stage clothing featured in the auction were worn on Heart album covers, onstage, in music videos, and in publicity images. Highlights include a dress with Austrian crystal embellishments worn by Ann Wilson onstage and in Circus magazine in 1978, a pant ensemble worn on the 1980 album cover of Heart Greatest Hits/Live, a hand-painted silk jacket worn by Wilson in the music video for “City’s Burning” and on the Strange Euphoria box set, and a Moschino trench coat worn in the music video for “These Dreams."
Also highlighted is Nancy Wilson’s tuxedo jacket worn on the back cover of the 1983 album Private Audition, a pink lace halter bodice worn in the video for “These Dreams," a black military-inspired stage jacket seen in the music video for “Stranded,” and a violet silk peignoir worn in the music video for “Nothing at All.”
Partial proceeds of the auction will go to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) and MusiCares. The CCFA is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. MusiCares was founded by the Recording Academy in 1989 and provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need.
