As we've mentioned at least once per day here at GuitarAficionado.com, Bob Dylan's 35th studio album, Tempest, will be released Tuesday, September 11. The release will mark the 50th anniversary of his self-titled debut from 1962.
For those of you who can't wait till Tuesday to hear what Rolling Stone considers a five-star album, head to iTunesiTunes, where the entire album is streaming for free for a limited time. You can check out the rest of that review right here.
"Lyrically, Dylan is at the top of his game, joking around, dropping wordplay and allegories that evade pat readings and quoting other folks' words like a freestyle rapper on fire," writes Will Hermes in Rolling Stone.
What we've heard so far is certainly interesting and inspiring, especially the song featured in the first music video off the album, "Duquesne Whistle," which you can watch below. The album will be released on CD, LP and as a digital download through online retailers.
Be sure to listen to the stream and tell us what you think. And don’t forget GuitarAficionado.com is in the midst of counting down Dylan’s best studio albums. Blogger Bill Spurge has ranked 33 of them (ignoring his Christmas album from 2009), and he's well into the Top 5 at the moment. Be sure to check out the No. 4 album … and the No. 5 album. And while you’re at it, here are the rest.
