John 5 Reveals Details on David Lee Roth's Solo Album

John 5 and David Lee Roth have been cooking up Roth's next solo album.

For the past year, John 5 has been hanging at David Lee Roth's house writing songs, and those sessions have possibly turned into the Van Halen singer's next solo album. No release date was set at press time, but as the news is all over the web and trending, it appears the collaboration will soon deliver something we can all hear. John 5 first worked with Roth in 1998 with the David Lee Roth Band.

“Dave and I just made another record, and it’s, like, the ‘California Sessions’, as Dave was calling it,” reported John 5. “It’s 11 of the greatest songs you’ll ever hear, and it’s just me and Dave, and we had Gregg Bissonette play drums on it. It’s unbelievable. There’s a song called 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow Bar & Grill'—you know, just great, great songs. And, hopefully, sometime it’ll see the light of day. But he’s, of course, busy with Van Halen and all that stuff. But it’s an incredible record.

“They’re all original songs. I would just go over to Dave's house during the day, and write this music, and then he would book the studio at night. So we would go into Henson Studios, and we’d record. And it’s so great. I mean, it sounds like just Dave from that Van Halen I or II or Women And Children First era."
