Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl is working on a mysterious project, according to his longtime producer and Garbage drummer Butch Vig.

Vig, who produced Nirvana’s Nevermind and Foo Fighters’ Wasting Light and Sonic Highways, revealed the news to AAP.

“I’m working on a bunch of things,” Vig says. “Some new Garbage music, a collaboration with Dave Grohl.”

“I love working with him because he has this crazy energy, and it’s good because I think that we respond to working with each other,” Vig adds. “And we have a bunch of new things we’re working on at the moment that are really pretty exciting.”

It’s not clear from Vig’s comment if this is a solo project or a new Foo Fighters effort. Rumors circulated months ago that the group was breaking ump but the group dispelled those notions with a video.

As for Grohl, he’s been in need of a rest following a lengthy Foo Fighters world tour in 2015 during which he broke his leg while performing in Gothenburg, Sweden.

“He just texted me one day and said, ‘I am toast—I need to go home and stop and just recuperate, I need to go dark for a while,’” Vig recounts. “I know for a fact that he’s been writing some songs, but I haven’t heard any plans or anything they’re doing right now. They’re still under the radar. So that’s all I know.”
