“Anyone who’s seen him perform his father’s music will testify that not only does Dweezil Zappa do it justice, his improvisational sections are as thrilling as the compositions are deep”: Win tickets to see Dweezil Zappa in San Francisco
Frank Zappa’s prodigal son will play a set of his father's legendary music at the Warfield Theatre on August 4
Dweezil Zappa is celebrating 50 years of his father Frank’s iconic releases Roxy & Elsewhere and Apostrophe(*). Guitar Player Presents has teamed up with Goldenvoice to welcome the Rox(Postroph)y Return of the Son of… tour to the historic Warfield Theatre in the heart of the City by the Bay on the first Sunday in August.
Dweezil Zappa is a Grammy-winning guitarist with over 2,000 concerts performed worldwide. Anyone who’s seen him perform his father’s music will testify that not only does Dweezil do it justice, he has elevated his own virtuosity to such a level that the improvisational sections are as thrilling as the compositions are deep.
Dweezil returned to touring this year for the first time since 2020’s Hot Ratz Live! This time he’s tackling tunes such as Cosmik Debris, Stink-Foot, Village of the Sun, Echida’s Arf, and many more from the glorious year of 1974.
Dweezil’s studio, Hikari, is a state-of-the-art multimedia facility where he crafted the stereo and Atmos mixes for the 50th anniversary re-release of Deep Purple's legendary Machine Head in 2024, cementing his status as a unique voice in sound engineering.
Most recently, Dweezil announced his “microphonic” signature Shabat guitar, the uniquely spec’d Lynx DZ. Equipped with a push-pull phase shift that replicates the charm of an Octavia pedal, Zappa says that the new model “feels alive.”
Come listen to all of Zappa’s groovy gear with your own ears when GP and Goldenvoice welcome Dweezil back to the Bay Area on August 4 at the glorious Warfield.
