AC/DC has released an official statement:
"After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support.
In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family’s privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music."
Although there has been, at press time, no comment from AC/DC management or publicists, rumors were tossed into the media maelstrom by an Australian radio station on Tuesday regarding the band's coming retirement, as well as disturbing news about the alleged ill health of guitarist Malcolm Young.
On the flip side, another report -- from "a music industry source" -- has the band booked for a six-week recording session in Vancouver that starts May 1.
On the other, other hand, vocalist Brian Johnson did go on the record this past February that one of his band mates was not up to par.
"One of our boys was pretty ill," Johnson said during an interview with a radio station in Florida, "so we didn't like to say anything. We're very private about things like this."
The member Johnson referred to is reportedly Malcolm Young.
Of course, we won't know the facts until the official AC/DC camp decides to set the record straight. What are your thoughts?
