They may come from markedly different bands, but Queen’s Brian May and Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi have been friends for many years now.

As we reported recently in our story about the 1989 star-studded remake of “Smoke on the Water,” May showed up with Iommi when the Sabbath guitarist performed his part on that track, and the two have also played live together several times over the decades.

The video below is from the star-studded Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert on April 20, 1992. Mercury, Queen’s singer, had died the previous November 24, and his band mates—May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor—hosted this special concert in his memory before a crowd of more than 70,000 at London's Wembley Stadium.

Among the special guests that day were Iommi and the Who’s Roger Daltrey, both of whom sat in for this spirited performance of “I Want it All,” a track that originally appeared on Queen’s The Miracle (1989).
