GP Presents the Alan Parsons Live Project, March 21 in Oakland, California – win tickets
The legendary songwriter and producer will be joined onstage by, among other top musicians, guitar hero Jeff Kollman
GP Presents is proud to partner with Another Planet Entertainment to welcome progressive rock legend Alan Parsons and his Live Project featuring Jeff Kollman on lead guitar to the East Bay for a rare concert appearance.
Parsons is a notorious studio rat who got his start at Abbey Road working as an assistant engineer on the last two Beatles albums and engineering Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.
He went on to produce a number of his own hits with the Alan Parsons Project, including Time, Eye in the Sky, Games People Play, I Wouldn’t Want to Be Like You, Don’t Answer Me, and the dramatic instrumental Sirius, which was used to introduce the starting lineup of the Chicago Bulls for home games during their heyday with Michael Jordan.
Parsons is a creative acoustic guitarist, Dan Tracey excels on electric rhythm, and lead player Jeff Kollman is a bona fide guitar hero. Midwesterners remember Kollman as a shred king spearheading the melodic metal band Edwin Dare in the '80s and early '90s. He eventually moved to Southern California and wound up working with a number of outstanding musicians. His longtime fusion project, Cosmosquad, plays regularly at the Baked Potato in Los Angeles.
GP LA editor Jude Gold says, “Kollman is the musical equivalent of an acetylene torch!”
“When I got to L.A. I was touring on G3 with Michael Schenker and headed by Joe Satriani,” Kollman recalls. “Two weeks after the tour I got a call to audition for rock legends U.F.O. and started working on an album immediately with these British rock stars that were my childhood heroes.”
Kollman has been working with Parsons for many moons now and can be heard on recent releases including his latest studio album, 2022’s From the New World. We can’t wait to see Kollman work his fretboard magic with Alan Parsons Live Project on the third Thursday in March in OakTown.
