Doner Designs, a father and son team in suburban Chicago, recently completed a NASA theme electric guitar which will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help raise funds for kids fighting serious illness.
The guitar was signed by veteran astronaut Captain James A. Lovell who is best known as the Commander of Apollo 13. Make-A-Wish will auction the guitar at its May 2014 Wish Ball fundraiser at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The guitar features top quality components including: Dual-Mode active EMG pickups, Babicz Full Contact 2-Point Tremolo, Warmoth neck, Allparts body, and Gotoh tuning machines. Steve, and his son Richard Doner, plan to build an aircraft carrier Navy theme bass guitar during 2014, and donate it to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for auction in December at McCormick Place in Chicago.
