As most Ritchie Blackmore fans know, the guitarist will take an unprecedented break from his Renaissance music group to perform three rock concerts in 2016 with a new line-up of Ritchie Blackmore’s Rainbow.
But to anyone paying attention, Blackmore has been doing his fair share of rocking out in 2015. Just take a look at the video below, where he shreds for more than five minutes during a summer show with Blackmore’s Night.
YouTube user Revan posted the video on July 4 of this year, and explains that it comes from a performance of the song “The Moon Is Shining” in Duisberg, Germany. “Ritchie Blackmore showing why he’s still the master at age 70 in this great improvisation,” notes Revan.
We agree completely.
For those still hoping to see Blackmore’s Rainbow next year, the band’s itinerary consists of two shows in Germany: one at the Monsters of Rock Festival 2016 on June 18, and another in Loreley, Freilichtbühnen, on June 17. The band is also confirmed to perform at Genting Arena in Birmingham, England on Saturday, June 25.
For the shows, the former Deep Purple guitarist will be joined by singer Ronnie Romero, keyboardist Jens Johansson (of the group Stratovarius), drummer David Keith (who also performs in Blackmore’s Renaissance music group, Blackmore’s Night) and bassist Bob Nouveau.
In the meantime, enjoy this monster shredfest.
