Peter Frampton Says He Will Launch His First Acoustic Tour This Fall

Peter Frampton will launch his first completely acoustic tour in Nashville this October. For the monthlong jaunt, he’ll be joined by his longtime collaborator, Gordon Kennedy, as well as his son, singer-guitarist Julian Frampton.

“I see this show being ‘me’ performing the songs just as I wrote them, on acoustic guitar or piano,” Frampton says. “I have done a lot of shows, including two or three acoustic solo pieces, and always enjoy the way it draws the audience and myself closer together.”

Frampton’s fall dates follow his string of co-headlining shows with Cheap Trick. Both Frampton and Cheap Trick also contributed tracks to the all-star Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute album, One More for the Fans, on which Frampton covers “Call Me the Breeze” and Cheap Trick perform “Gimme Back My Bullets.”

In the spirit of Frampton’s acoustic tour, we pulled up this clip of him performing his acoustic hit “Baby I Love Your Way” on Q104.3 in New York City, April 27, 2010. There are more recent, and much older, videos of him performing the song, but we liked the intimacy of this one.
