Pete Townshend is being honored for his work with the MusiCares MAP Fund at a benefit concert on May 28. Bruce Springsteen, MusiCare's 2013 Person of the Year, will present the Who shredder with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award at the NYC Best Buy Theater and tickets are available. The Who's longtime manager, Bill Curbishley, will also receive the From the Heart Award for his dedication to MusiCare's mission and goals.
MusiCares provides recovery treatment, sober living resources and support for musicians struggling with addiction regardless of their financial situation. All proceeds of the benefit concert will go to the MAP Fund. Additional support for the concert was donated by the DJ AM Memorial Fund, in memory of DJ AM (Adam Goldstein).
Pete Townshend will be be joined by band members currently touring with The Who on their 2015 50th Anniversary Tour. Joan Jett, Billy Idol and Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones will also perform. Other artists will be announced over the next few weeks.
