Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page believes, "Paul Rodgers has been, and still is by far, one of the finest talents of our musical genre." Queen's Brian May says, "He's simply the greatest rock/blues singer alive." Great as his talent is, here at the Fender Museum, Paul Rodgers is great for other reasons. For the last decade he has supported Kids Rock Free (KRF), and this year he shares his success by playing a benefit concert at the Fender Center outdoor amphitheatre in Corona. Join the show on July 28, 2012 as Lucas Oil Productions films the concert for the Kids Rock Free Concert Series airing on MAVTV.
The evening will be filled with his radio hits “All Right Now,” “Can’t Get Enough,” “Feel Like Making Love,” Bad Company,” “Rock & Roll Fantasy,” “Shooting Star” and more. The iconic, multi-platinum selling singer, songwriter & self-taught instrumentalist has written, recorded, produced and released over 30 albums since 1968, and has sold over 90 million records. Rodgers formed and led three separate bands to chart topping and worldwide success: Free, Bad Company & the Firm, and as a solo artist he has earned a Grammy Nomination. His solo band includes Howard Leese on guitar, a founding member of Heart and Canadian musicians guitarist Marcus Wolfe, drummer Rick Fedyk, and Todd Ronning on bass, brother of Ex-Vancouver Canuck and Nashville Predators hockey player, Cliff Ronning. Next stop for the band is Europe where Paul Rodgers will headline rock festivals in Norway and Poland. Over the years Rodgers has recorded/performed with a who’s who of rock including: Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Brian May, David Gilmour, Buddy Guy, Joe Walsh, Slash, Nils Lofgren, Charlie Watts, Bryan Adams, Motown's Sam Moore, The Four Tops and Queen to name just a select few.
This past December, Rodgers released a new studio recording that is available exclusively on-line via CD Baby, and all other digital retailers. The song "With Our Love" was shared with fans and the public on his 62nd birthday, with one hundred percent of the proceeds earmarked for the charities The Racehorse Sanctuary & Rocking Horse Children's Charity and Seraphim 12 Foundation. The song charted for eight weeks, peaking at #4 nationally at Classic Rock Radio. So far the money raised has rescued and cared for five horses from a horrific existence that are now living out their days at the Sanctuary. The composition was co-written with his friend, guitarist and producer Perry Margouleff.
Fender Center is pleased to celebrate the man, his music and his generosity. Paul's hard work making him a legend in today's music culture is a tremendous influence on the kids studying guitar, piano, bass, drums, voice and combo band at Kids Rock Free, a nonprofit music school serving kids ages 7 – 17. His unselfish gifts inspire the kids to work hard to improve their skills and share their talents through performing, just as he has done. Catch him at Fender Center on Saturday, July 28, 2012.
