Joni Mitchell has been hospitalized after being found unconscious at her Los Angeles–area home on Tuesday, March 31, according to her website. Emergency responders answered a 911 call for assistance at around 2:30 local time.
Mitchell regained consciousness on the way to the hospital.
According to a note on Mitchell’s site, “She is currently in intensive care undergoing tests and is awake and in good spirits. Light a candle and sing a song, let’s all send good wishes her way.”
The singer’s officer Twitter feed posted, “We are awaiting official word on her condition and will post it here as soon as we know.”
Sources told CBC News that Mitchell was hospitalized for a “minor medical emergency.” CBC News producer Leslie Stojsic tweeted, “I’m told now she’s resting in hospital and is among friends—a good sign.”
Mitchell has suffered from various illnesses over the years. She revealed in February that she has been fighting an immune-system illness called Morgellons for the past eight years.
“There’s a lot of lethargy with my illness,” she told the Daily Mail last September. “I’m fatigued.” She complained as well that the medication for the illness caused “brain fog.”
Mitchell’s last album was Shine, released in 2007.
