Jimmy Page made a surprise appearance last night at a benefit show at Seattle’s Experience Music Project Museum, where he led Soundgarden’s Kim Thayil, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Paul Rodgers, Alice in Chains singer William Duvall and others through a rough-and-ready version of “Rock and Roll.” You can watch a clip from the performance below. Page arrives onstage at around 3:18.

Page was on hand to receive the EMP Founders Award, but no one expected him to play. His appearance onstage at the end of the evening put a fitting close to the night, bringing several members of rock-star royalty together for one rowdy and spontaneous performance.

The house band featured a rhythm section that included former Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan, former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, ex–Screaming Trees drummer Barrett Martin, former Black Crowes guitarist Rich Robinson and others. The performance also reunited Page with Rodgers, his former bandmate in the Firm.
