Freakazoid fusion maestro Oz Noy has racked up GP Readers’ Choice Award wins for “Best Guitar Riff on a Record (2007),” “Best New Talent (2008),” and “Best Out There Guitar Player (2013).” He’s released four albums as a bandleader on the respected Abstract Logix label, and he’s got a new band project for his fifth—Ozone Squeeze—dropping September 15th. Guitar Player is honored to present the Ozone Squeeze band for a double-decker night of CD release shows at the one-and-only Yoshi’s jazz house and Japanese restaurant in Oakland’s Jack London Square on Thursday, September 14th.
Ozone Squeeze finds Oz Noy joining forces with singer/keyboardist Rai Thistlethwayte from the Australian pop rock band Thirsty Merc, and drummer Darren Stanley (Col. Bruce Hampton, Delta Moon, and Donna the Buffalo). If you’ve ever wanted to hear what Noy would sound like in a band with a vocalist covering familiar gems such as “Come Together” in far-out ways, as well as fresh, original pop-fusion, then don’t miss the debut of Ozone Squeeze.
Watch Ozone Squeeze play “Supernatural Man.”
