When you’re as great a guitarist as Carlos Santana, you get to play with some pretty fantastic artists.
Santana, who was born on this day, had just such an opportunity on October 2, 1988, when he performed live with Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmie Vaughan and Los Lobos axman (and lefty) Cesar Rosas.
SRV and Double Trouble were touring at the time, and it so happened that their tour and Santana’s intersected for one magical night in Costa Mesa, California. The artists stepped onstage to join Santana for his last three songs of the night.
The action starts at around the 14-minute of the first video. Check out Stevie on a Danelectro double-neck! And enjoy.
