Alice in Chains have been picked to open for Guns N’ Roses for the first of their two upcoming reunion shows next month.
Those shows will take place on April 8 and 9 during the opening weekend at Las Vegas’s new T-Mobile Arena. Both dates are sold out.
The Guns N’ Roses lineup will include founding members Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan. Rumors that founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin would be part of the reunion were proved false this past week by Stradlin himself. The guitarist says he has no part in the reunion or any new recordings that the group is rumored to be making.
Following their Las Vegas debut, Guns N’ Roses will go to the Coachella Music Festival in Indio, California, where they’ll perform as headliners on April 16 and 23. In between they’ll play two dates in Mexico City on April 19 and 20. No bands have been named as the opening act for those shows.
Alice in Chains launched a 19-date summer tour last year from which they raised funds in memory of a fan named Stefan Dayne-Ankle, who passed away after a battle with leukemia. That was the group’s first tour since their 2013–14 jaunt in support of their most recent album, The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here. The disc was their second with singer William DuVall. The group’s founding vocalist, Layne Staley, died in 2002.
