The Seattle Seahawks announced today that Alice in Chains will perform at halftime during this Sunday’s NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers at Seattle's CenturyLink Field.
Jerry Cantrell, founding guitarist for the Seattle-based band, has been a Seahawks fan since 1976, when he was 10.
“It’s an honor to be asked to take part in anything to do with the Seahawks,” Cantrell says. “I’m always happy to show up and lend a helping hand, absolutely.”
As it turns out, the timing was perfect. Alice in Chains recently wrapped a worldwide tour in support of their chart-topping Grammy-nominated album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here.
“We’ve just been taking the winter off, so it’s been kind of nice to be around for the football season,” he said. “I was up for the game last weekend.”
Cantrell is optimistic of a Seahawks win this Sunday.
“I think we’re probably one of the most energetic teams in the league, and have been.”
The game begins at 3:05 p.m. Eastern Time and will be shown on Fox.
