The Malian master guitarist continues to push the traditional music of his father—the great Ali Farka Touré, who appears posthumously on one track—into the future while also infusing it with shades of psychedelia. Guest guitarists Derek Trucks (who plays killer Indianstyle slide on “Aigna”), Soulive’s Eric Krasno, and John Scofield (sounding surprisingly African- esque on “Gido”), bring additional combustion to Touré’s already incendiary riffs, melodies, and solos. Six Degrees.
