IF YOU’RE IN THE NASHVILLE AREA AND HAVE always wanted to check out what goes on at a NAMM convention, this summer’s show is opening its doors to the public on July 23, 2011. On that day, MPN is partnering with NAMM to sponsor “Wanna Play Music Day” at the usually “trade-only” gearfest. In addition to being allowed to walk the aisles like a GP editor and audition all the hot, new guitar products, you’ll also get to attend “Wanna Play Music Day” events such as special concerts, player clinics, roundtables, and more.

Summer NAMM welcomes Guitar Player’s Guitar Superstar 2011 for the first time on July 23, as well. Hosted by guitar legend Larry Carlton, the seventh annual guitar competition pits five finalists in a thrill-or-crumble battle in front of celebrity judges such as GP columnist and L.A. session great Carl Verheyen, extreme guitar iconoclast Reeves Gabrels, and All-Star Guitar Night founder Muriel Anderson. Deadline for entries is June 15, 2011, so if you’ve missed all the Twitter, Facebook, Web, and print promotions, you might still have a day or so to get your entry in front of the Guitar Player staff. Click to truefire.com/gpgs2011 for details. And, of course, keep watching guitarplayer.com for Summer NAMM and Guitar Superstar updates.
