Soul Asylum's Silver Lining

The forces of nature worked real hard to keep Soul Asylum from putting out another record. Their first studio venture since 1998’s Candy From a Stranger, Silver Lining was birthed from the Minneapolis quartet that practically ruled the early ’90s alternative rock scene. Their multi-platinum Grave Dancer’s Union, and its Top Ten single “Runaway Train,” garnered heaps of critical acclaim, but their two following albums didn’t come close to their Columbia debut’s record sales. As the decade closed, the band’s drummer and record label departed, and bandleader Dave Pirner disappeared to New Orleans.
