Old 97's Kick Off National Headline Tour May 30th

Old 97’s, one of the most acclaimed and beloved bands to spring from the 90s indie rock scene, will kick off the first headline tour in support of their anticipated new album, Blame It On Gravity, May 30th in Houston, TX.  The album, the band’s seventh studio recording, will be released May 13th via New West Records and is their first in 4 years. Blame It On Gravity finds the band turning up the amps and returning to the satisfying crunch of its early records.  Well known as an explosive live act, the band is excited to present these new tracks on stage.

In addition to the tour dates, the band is gearing up for several in store appearances in support of Blame It On Gravity. They will be in Houston at Cactus Music on May 15th followed by Waterloo Records in Austin on May 16th.

Starting now through Friday, April 9, fans can go to old97s.newwestrecords.com and sign up to receive an exclusive digital download of a performance of the new song "My Two Feet." This exclusive footage was filmed live at the band's end of recording session party in Dallas earlier this year. Those who signed up will receive an email after April 9 with a link to download the video.

Blame It On Gravity superbly combines the various elements of rock, punk, classic country and pop displayed on previous releases and the collection is easily the band’s most well-rounded stack of songs recorded for a single offering to date. The album represents the quality of song-craft fans have come to expect from the 97’s past releases and is also reminiscent of the intensity, drive and bona fide joy found on cult favorite and major label debut Too Far To Care.

Since the 97’s last studio release, 2004’s Drag It Up, the band has released a double live album, Alive and Wired, a live DVD, and appeared prominently in the romantic comedy The Breakup after being written into the script by longtime fan and supporter Vince Vaughn.
