Like a close look in the mirror, recording yourself exposes your playing strengths and weaknesses with some degree of objective detachment. M-Audio’s new pocket-size MicroTrack 24/96 digital recorder makes it easy to do just that, be it at home, at rehearsal, or on gigs. Plus, the free software download Audacity makes light work of editing your tracks for burning CDs. With the MicroTrack’s portability, high fidelity, and the option to record in either WAV or mp3 format, M-Audio hopes the unit will replace other popular digital recording media like DAT and MiniDisc.
Working in close collaboration with designer Devon Turnbull of Ojas speakers, Jason Ojeda of Global Audio recently created a one of a kind high-powered audiophile sound system for community-based hospitality and performance space, Public Records.
